20141017020931-steachgoals_final_styleIt’s not very often that a crowd funding project sparks my attention, but it this case it’s an affordable laptop for everyone.

Build it … and they will come

I was lucky enough to have an IT guy for a roommate in the late 90’s and he showed me how to build my first computer. Since then I’ve build dozens of machine for friends, family and even a few clients. Today it’s a lot easier with Youtube as a resource and the internet as a spec guide, but still the idea of building a computer from scratch can be daunting.

As easy as Pi

The Raspberry Pi is a small consumer Linux machine that for around 100 dollars you can build. In an afternoon you can get almost the full experience but sourcing all the parts can be a bit of a problem and it takes a little more then just a passing knowledge and interest to complete. Enter the folks of Pi-Top a laptop with all the part included. If you have been longing to build one of these boxes for a while, but were too lazy to source everything check out the video below and jump on board. As of posting they have already met goal so it’s only up for here.
